If you've come to my site, we may share a similar understanding of animals. I have loved, respected, and connected deeply with animals all of my life. I felt such contentment in their quiet, loving presence and experienced so much joy sharing life together. As a Reiki Master and a student in the pre-veterinary medicine program at the University of Connecticut, I was hopeful for a medical paradigm that considered the whole animal being; body, mind, and Spirit. For this reason, I pursued an independent study of energy medicine and alternative healing techniques in my final semester. This experience was the beginning of my journey toward animal communication but it would be another 10 years of practicing the art of "deep listening" through yoga, Qi Gong and energy medicine before I was ready to become a professional animal communicator. In my experience; yoga, energy medicine, and animal communication are inextricably connected. At the core of these practices is the natural development of inner stillness and subtle energy perception.
I devoted 17 years as a certified veterinary technician in both large and small animal practices and ultimately transitioned into the dynamic field of veterinary emergency medicine and critical care. The most fulfilling part of working in the ICU was caring for the sick and injured animals during the late night hours. It was during these quiet times that I began to intuit their needs. In the silent space between us; thoughts, feelings, and images were exchanged. I would "know" how to comfort them. Sometimes I'd offer Reiki, other times I would simply wash their face, or gently massage their aching bodies. It was these experiences with the animals in my care, that have inspired my work today.
In 2008, I began formal training in the healing art of Qi Gong with Grand Master Hong Liu. I became an apprentice to Master Hong ten years later. It is through this time-honored tradition of the Master-apprentice relationship that I continue to practice and further study Chinese Energetic Medicine or Medical Qi Gong. Traditional apprenticeship in this potent form of energy medicine consists of many stages of personal Qi development so as to enhance one's own life force energy and then later learning to sense and directly influence the Qi of another being in order to bring about a state of health and vitality. This is one of the unique aspects of Chinese Energetic Medicine.
Through the mentorship of horseman and communicator, Ray Berta, Sea Star Horse Sanctuary founder, Sharon Regan, and trainer, Kristi Whelan, I have been guided into deeper layers of the horse-human relationship. I am so grateful to each of them for sharing their decades of wisdom, experience and their deep understanding of the equine spirit. My energy medicine and equine massage practice is available for horses of all breeds and disciplines. Qi sessions are beneficial for horses experiencing chronic pain, idiopathic conditions that are not responding to traditional western medicine, or as part of a preventative care and wellness program. It is my belief that the most complete care system considers the whole horse( body, mind, and spirit) and utilizes the best and most advanced practices of veterinary medicine in conjunction with the most potent forms of energy medicine and bodywork.
